Hot Mirror & IR Filters
Hot Mirror: Tiffen has done it again with our latest innovation in filter technology, addressing the problem of IR pollution with the introduction of our exclusive Hot Mirror and Hot Mirror IRND filters. IR pollution is a significant issue in many of today’s hi-definition cameras which are inherently sensitive to infra-red light, particularly those that do not incorporate an internal IR blocker. Standard Hot Mirror Filters - The Tiffen standard Hot Mirror is designed to remedy this problem by reflecting most infrared light. The Tiffen Hot Mirror (HM) filter as a stand alone ilter for those looking to block just the IR portion of the spectrum, with no appreciable loss of light transmission. Hot Mirror IRND Filters - The Tiffen Hot Mirror Infra-red Neutral Density (HMIRND) Combination filter is the COMPLETE solution to the IR pollution problem addressing this issue in both the near IR and IR regions of the spectrum.
Each HMIRND filter blocks unwanted IR light and has matched IR and ND components to assure accurate color reproduction in the near infra-red region. Tiffen’s new Hot Mirror (HM) and Hot Mirror Infrared Neutral Density (HMIRND) filters are available in popular motion picture sizes.
HMIRND Filters are offered in 0.3, 0.6, 0.9, 1.2, 1.5, 1.8, and 2.1 densities. Also available as Combination Filter HM-80C and HM-80D. Infrared Filters:
Various filters are used to reduce unwanted visible light. Total visible light absorption, transmitting only infrared, can be useful. Prior testing is recommended. 87 - For black and white infrared film only; no visible transmission. IR ND Filters - As HD cameras begin to replace film as the medium of choice for more productions, the sensitivity of imaging sensors to IR has become a challenge. This is particularly evident when using standard neutral density filters that absorb visible light but pass infra-red.
Using Tiffen’s exclusive ColorCore™ filter technology, Tiffen engineers have been able to eliminate nfra-red bleed above 700nm.
This is particularly mportant as it now allows for the use of the denser grades of Neutral Density filters needed for these light sensitive cameras while, at the same time, maintaining complete color balance.
Tiffen’s new IRND filters are available in ND.3, ND.6, ND.9, ND1.2, ND1.5, ND1.8, and ND2.1. The IR 85ND filters are available in 85ND.3, 85ND.6, 85ND.9 and 85ND1.2, rendering true color throughout the spectrum. T1-IR Filter |
